In May 6 and 7, 2012, in Beijing 751 fashion design Plaza held a "Chinese bride" Dragon Story "high fashion show" and "Chinese wedding dress" static exhibition. As designer, Guo Pei has been preparing for this show for nearly 3 years. Recently, the reporter conducted an exclusive interview with Guo Pei.


Guo Pei graduated from the clothing design department of Beijing two light industry school in 1986 and served as the chief designer of Beijing Tianma clothing company in 1989-1995 years.

In 1995, it was named "the five best designers in China" by Japan's Asahi Shimbun.

1997 founded Beijing rose Fang Fashion Co., Ltd., chairman and chief designer.


With solid design skills and love for the clothing industry, Guo Pei has built up her own high fashion kingdom. The state leaders, movie stars, celebrities, business elites and other people who have the highest status, fame and wealth in China have become her most loyal customers. The costumes of all the members of the 2008 Olympic bid delegation and the design of most of the Spring Festival Gala are made by Guo Peilai.


During the interview, the reporter learned that the publication of this Guo Pei's work will be composed of two parts: "Chinese wedding dress" static exhibition and "Dragon Story" high fashion.

The work combines the design essence of Guo Pei for many years and the exquisite handicraft of Rose House, which fully demonstrates the designer's rich imagination and international design concept.

The design and production of the press conference, which lasted for 30 months, was created by the team of 400 people from the Rose Square. 50 high fashion works, apart from adhering to the luxury and aesthetical design style of Guo Pei, there are many amazing works.

Turning to the creative source of the conference, she admits:


In fact, I want to do the Chinese wedding dress for the Chinese people, because I think so many years of such a big country in this real China, especially after the Olympic Games has been the world's attention, but such a large nation such a large nation, has such a long history of culture, but do not have their own wedding dress, I think this is a pity.


Just like the year of the dragon, she tried to express the inheritance with the story of dragon. She hoped that through this fashion conference, more people would agree with the meaning of marriage and deepen the relationship between family and society, so as to convey a kind of self understanding and understanding in Chinese traditional culture.

She laughs that this exhibition will be a cultural activity, not just an expression of individual works.


In 1986, Guo Pei graduated from the clothing design department of Beijing two light industrial school. In 1989-1995, he was the chief designer of Beijing Tianma clothing company. During the period of being a designer of Tianma, one of the ten famous brands, she had almost no inventory of what she designed to sell. Although in 90s, she could get hundreds of thousands of high salaries every year, but she was not satisfied.

She said:


"Gradually, I felt bored.

Sometimes in my own yard, I will walk around deliberately because I do not want to see my own design, I do not feel good.

I have been making garments for 10 years, and I especially want to make a beautiful dress.

This is my dream when I was little.

In 1996, with her 600 thousand savings, she set up a rose house. After years of hard work and hard work, in 2005, she held the first real fashion show. The year's "big gold" dress skirt was embroidered with gold thread. It was like a sparkling flame. "Daikin" made 50000 hours of work hours, she sighed.


At that time, the worker did not get into the needle, and every hand of the needle was broken, and his hands were broken. The tools had not been able to reach the forceps to be pulled out with forceps.

In that process, the experience given by the wearer conveys different meanings. The big gold I think it not only represents a watershed of my career, but also represents the true appearance of Chinese high fashion, which has touched many people.


After the "big gold", Guo Pei felt that she could do better. That's the Royal robe worn by the legendary model Carmen Dell 'Orfice at the "one year, 02 night" press conference.

Guo Pei said:


"Carmen's suit is the first of my entire series of designs.

After the design, I was stunned. I was wondering who could wear it. I thought about all the people in my mind, and none of them could control this suit.

This is a dress that a woman, the ultimate woman can show, it is not because young and beautiful, it is not beautiful, it wants to show a kind of ultimate charm.


Later, in a magazine in a hotel in Shanghai, Guo Pei accidentally discovered Carmen.

"She was wearing a red dress with her back on the camera and her face on her side.

I thought, just want her, she wanted her, she was perfect, and I was successful with her. "

Close to 80 years old Carmen, from the future to China, she once expressed concern about the arrival of Carmen, for fear that she could not wear because of heavy clothing.

She told reporters that she still remembered the first dialogue with Carmen so far.


"Carmen said," I want to ask you a question. What do you want to do most in your life? "I think it's a great answer. I want to be a designer.

After listening, Carmen said, "like me, you want to be a model in my whole life."


Out of love for her career, Carmen, 78, came to China for the first time. She made a special trip to Tiananmen and the Great Wall. But when she passed by Tiananmen, Carmen did not get off. Carmen told Guo Pei to preserve her best physical strength for her show.

The rehearsal is approaching, and the rehearsal is all right, but Guo Pei has another wish. She hopes Carmen will finish the curtain call at the highest point of the stage.


At the end of my presentation, I wanted to ask her to have a grid behind a curtain that was ten meters high. She climbed the stairs and climbed the very high stairs to get there.

I think it's a perfect ending for all the audience to show her where she was.

What I remember most at that time was that she didn't go up and down the stairs. She wanted to protect her knees, especially the models.

Her assistant said she had not been up and down stairs for 10 years.


She recalled that at the end of the conference, she plucked up the courage to find Carmen in the background. She pointed to the stage over the twenty meters high and a small platform, and said to Carmen, "I hope you can stand there and finish the curtain call!" Guo Pei looked like a little child, full of expectation and expectation in front of the famous model Carmen. In a few seconds, ten seconds, two people did not say a word, so they looked at each other with such a dull look.

Perhaps it was touched by the longing in Guo Pei's eyes. Maybe Carmen also felt that this height could show the majesty of the queen, and Carmen answered.

After the conference, Carmen and Guo Pei became very good friends.


In Guo Pei's works, Chinese traditional culture is one of the essential elements. She hopes her works can represent an era, at least represent the current height of Chinese designers.

Asked about the ideal of the future, she said:


I have many ideals. The most important thing I want to do is to promote the wedding dress and make a museum. I want to show a lot of clothes through this museum exhibition so that more people can see and touch.

I believe that using the most beautiful design can impress all Chinese people to inherit and inherit the nation, inherit culture and inherit everything.


Clothing has been called "no word history books", it can not only witness the glory and decline of an era, but also record the glory and desolation of this era.

Whether it is the clothing design that has attracted much attention in the early stage of the work, or the advanced customization that has been widely praised in recent years, it is Guo Pei's constant challenge to himself and the pursuit of the most perfect design process.

2, I think life should have ideals. Many foreigners seem surprised at my work.

In fact, I can do this to a degree because I think it should be closely related to our traditional culture, 5000 years, and now seven thousand years of clothing history. If I am not a Chinese, I can not make such a beautiful work.


3, actually, I want to do the Chinese wedding dress for the Chinese people, because I feel that such a big country has been concerned by the whole world after such a great Olympic Games. But such a large nation with such a long history of culture has not had its own wedding dress. I think this is a pity.


4, I have many ideals.

The most important thing I want to do is to promote the wedding dress and make a museum. I want to show a lot of clothes through this museum exhibition so that more people can see and touch.

5, I have not received western education, and I feel proud to do so.
