China'S Textile And Clothing Exports Showed Signs Of Slowing Down In August Of This Year (Figure)

In September 11th, the latest data released by customs showed that in 2008 1-8, China's textile and apparel exports totaled US $118 billion 940 million, an increase of 9.15% compared with the same period last year, and export growth continued to show signs of slowing down.

From January to August this year, China's textile and clothing exports increased by only nine point one five percent compared with the same period last year, and its export growth continued to show signs of slowing down.

According to the latest statistics released by the General Administration of Customs of China in the two 00 eight national key export commodities list from January to August, the cumulative export volume of Chinese textiles and Chinese clothing (000902, stock bar) increased by 22% and two point six percent respectively, up nine percentage points and nineteen point seven percentage points respectively over the same period last year.

It is particularly noted that in August this year, China's exports of textiles and clothing decreased by nearly US $one hundred million compared with last month. The overall export growth rate is still in a doldrums compared with the last few months, and the peak season is not encouraging.

Experts from the China Textile Association said that under the combined influence of various factors, 2/3 of the textile industry in China has only zero point six two percent of the actual profit this year. The export volume of textile enterprises has declined to varying degrees, and some have been in a "hibernating" state.
