China'S Export Price For Leather Shoes Rose In October

Reporters yesterday learned from the China Light Industry Arts and crafts import and Export Chamber of commerce that the number of leather shoes exports to EU declined in 1~10 months this year, but the total amount has risen. The average unit price is 16.6% higher than that of the same period last year.

In 2007 1~10, China exported 7 billion 200 million pairs of shoes, 21 billion US dollars, with an average price of 2.92 US dollars / pairs, representing an increase of 9.8%, 16.1% and 5.8% respectively over the same period last year.

The number of anti-dumping cases involving leather shoes from the 27 EU countries is 98 million 580 thousand pairs of EU exports, 8% less than the same period last year, and the export amount is 730 million US dollars, an increase of 7.2% over the same period last year.

Since the beginning of this year, China's export prices to EU leather shoes have continued to grow by two digits. The responsible persons of the China Light Industry Arts and crafts import and Export Chamber of Commerce believe that the main reasons lie in the following three aspects: RMB appreciation, export tax rebate rate reduction, the cost of raw leather imports being banned category and so on; the cost of raw material prices and freight prices rising and labor supply in short supply; the EU has imposed anti-dumping duties on leather shoes imported from China, and some powerful and independent brands have been actively facing challenges, improving the core competitiveness of enterprises, adjusting the structure of export products, improving product grades, achieving a shift from middle to low grade, and also an important reason for the rise of export prices.
