According to the data released by the China Textile Industry Federation, as of May 30, 23 brand enterprises and 42 manufacturing enterprises had joined the "China Fashion Brand Climate Innovation Carbon Neutralization and Acceleration Plan" to jointly promote the textile industry to achieve the goal of "double carbon".

Textile industry is an important livelihood industry. As the world's largest textile and garment producer and exporter, China's output of chemical fiber, yarn, cloth, etc. has ranked first in the world. In 2022, the total fiber processing volume of China's textile industry will exceed 60 million tons, accounting for more than half of the global proportion; Textile and clothing exports totaled 340.95 billion US dollars, accounting for more than one-third of the global total. At the same time, the textile industry is also environmentally sensitive. In the production and processing process, spinning, weaving, printing and dyeing, clothing, finishing involve equipment energy consumption, material treatment, waste emissions, etc., which will produce carbon emissions.

In recent years, relevant departments have issued a series of policies to promote the green development of the textile industry, and the China Textile Industry Federation has actively promoted industrial enterprises and industrial clusters. Many enterprises continue to make efforts in green change. Among the enterprises that have joined the "China Fashion Brand Climate Innovation Carbon Neutralization Acceleration Plan", 83% have set climate goals. However, it should also be noted that textile enterprises have not completely got rid of the status quo of high energy consumption and high emissions. Give full play to the power of small and medium-sized enterprises. The consumption of energy resources and the greenhouse gas emissions generated by a single small and medium-sized enterprise are relatively small. However, due to the large number of small and medium-sized enterprises in China, the amount of carbon emissions cannot be ignored. Small and medium-sized enterprises are an important force for high-quality development of the textile industry, as well as the main force for achieving carbon peak and carbon neutrality in the textile industry. It is of great significance to realize green transformation and low-carbon development of the industry to give full play to the comprehensive advantages of specialized and new enterprises in the industry and the positive role of SMEs in innovation.
